Each DTS comes together for the official lecture times to hear a range of topics from speakers from all around the world. During other times you will be given the chance to hear from and talk to missionaries who have been on the field. You will be able to hear some of their stories, as well as ask them questions about there experiences. You will also be given the opportunity to research different areas of interest, as well as receive teaching on the Biblical foundation for missions. There will also be times for you to put to practice these principles and tools during lecture phase. Focus week will consist of a week long outreach during lecture phase here in the USA. This will be an opportunity to put some practical application to what you are learning in the Missions DTS, as well as an opportunity to reach out and minister to other communities. This is separate from the DTS outreach phase.
The following few months are spent overseas reflecting Jesus’ call to ‘GO’. In teams across the 10/40 window students are given the opportunity to explore and apply all they learned in the lecture phase. The idea behind having an outreach specifically geared towards outdoor adventure is to reach the people that can't be reached easily. If you want to spend two to three months trekking and carrying all your belongings on your back, then this is the DTS for you!
The week long mission trip will create some additional expenses that others don’t have. But it will be well worth it!
