Each DTS comes together for the official lecture times to hear a range of topics from speakers from all around the world. During other times we will engage in healthy competition in a variety of sports. We’ll hit the basketball court and the football, soccer, and ultimate frisbee fields. We may even throw in some softball or a dodgeball or corn hole tournament.
Next to a smile, sports is the universal language. You can be dropped in the middle of a brand new culture, not know the language and strike up relationship through a soccer game. Students in this DTS will spend time engaging with people through pick up games of sports and running the occasional sports camp. The outreach phase months are spent overseas reflecting Jesus’ call to ‘GO’. In teams across the 10/40 window students are given the opportunity to explore and apply all they learned in the lecture phase.
It’s not required but definitely recommended! Usually things can be found to borrow but your life will be a lot easier if you bring some of the stuff you have like athletic cleats, tennis shoes, ball glove, frisbee, etc. A list of suggested gear to bring will be sent to you before you come.
No one here is a former pro player, so skill level really doesn’t matter.
Nick has been with YWAM since 2009. He and his wife Felicia are amazing.
