Each DTS comes together for the official lecture times to hear a range of topics from speakers from all around the world. During other times you will be given the chance to hear from and talk to missionaries who have been on the field. You will be able to hear some of their stories, as well as ask them questions about their experiences. You will also be given the opportunity to research different areas of interest, as well as receive teaching on the Biblical foundation for missions. There will also be times for you to put to practice these principles and tools during the lecture phase. Focus week will consist of a week long outreach during lecture phase here in the USA. This will be an opportunity to put some practical application to what you are learning in the Missions DTS, as well as an opportunity to reach out and minister to other communities. (This is separate from the DTS outreach phase.)
Finally, each DTS comes together and prayerfully splits up into teams to be then sent to the nations. Students spend the remaining months overseas reflecting Jesus’ call to ‘GO’. In teams across the 10/40 window students are given the opportunity to explore and apply all they learned in the lecture phase. It’s a great opportunity to begin implementing and further exploring the gifts God has given you.
The week long mission trip will create some additional expenses that others don’t have. But it will be well worth it!
