School of worship
(SOW)
THE VISION
To raise up a generation of MUSCIANARIES who have a heart for missons and desire to bring worship to the ends of the earth and lead people from every nation, tribe and tongue to encounter His Presence!
OUR SOUND. HIS HEART. THE NATIONS.
The School of Worship (SOW) is a five-month journey—three months of immersive training followed by an optional two-month outreach (though honestly… once you catch the vision, you won’t want to stay home)
The School of Worship at YWAM Colorado Springs exists to train and equip worshipers who carry the presence of God into every nation. We believe worship isn’t merely music — expressed through surrender and obedience; it’s the overflow of a transformed life. Through teaching, community, creativity, and missions, we disciple musicians, singers, songwriters, and creatives to lead from biblical truth, humility and intimacy with God.
First, we explore what it actually means to be a worshiper—beyond talent or stage presence. Then we explore what it looks like to lead worship from a place of humility, intimacy and surrender. Dive deeper into Scripture and your walk with God through a lifestyle of worship. We want to open your eyes to the privilege we have as believers to worship Jesus “in spirit and truth,” not just in moments but in the way we live. We shape students in hands, heart, and mind by giving them practical skills and spiritual foundations so they can grow in both their craft and calling of worship.
Expect to be given opportunities to lead worship, work in a team, and experience topics that will challenge and strengthen you; going deeper with Jesus as you set aside these few months to learn more about this part of His heart.
Our goal is simple: to raise up worshipers who know God deeply and make Him known globally.
THE LECTURE PHASE
In the first three months, the SOW is all about activation. This is where you get trained, equipped, and sharpened to step into your calling as a worship leader who carries the fire of the gospel. We’re not just developing musicians—we’re raising up revivalists who know how to lead people straight into the presence of Jesus with boldness, purity, and authority.
You’ll get hands-on training that shapes both your skill and your character. We’ll dive deep into how to lead a band with excellence, how to cultivate a sound that carries heaven’s heartbeat, and how to lead rooms—big or small—into authentic, Spirit-led worship. And just as importantly, you’ll be challenged to lead by example: walking in integrity, choosing humility, and living a lifestyle that reflects the message you carry.
This is where worship meets missions. Where skill meets surrender. Where leaders are forged—not for the stage, but for the transformation of the nations!
THE OUTREACH PHASE
The last two months of outreach will involve evangelism in a variety of missions and ministry settings, receiving and communicating God's message to others. Some activities may include engaging the community through worship, partnering with churches and ministries, leading worship in a variety of places. From worshipping in a remote village in the Himalayas to praising His name in the middle of the street; we want to be His mouthpiece to bring the gospel to the least reached!
We believe music has the potential to cross many barriers and is a tool that enables you to connect with others whether they share the same language, nationality, or set of beliefs as you or not. When we sing songs, interact with communities, teach about music to those who long for it , or make a public proclamation concert, it helps us to share God's heart. Outreach seeks to value relationships with people in evangelism, be relevant to the culture, and give sacrificially for the kingdom of God to be established.
You will also have the opportunity to lead creative projects and share responsibilities within the team.
To travel and help equip & disciple others from cross-cultural locations. There will be opportunities to minister, run workshops, lead worship and intercession sets, record and produce songs in various languages, and experience worship in a variety of settings.
