THE 1040 windoW
Reaching the Least Reached
We focus our efforts on the part of the world known as the 10/40 window. In short, it is the part of the world with the most densely populated areas where people have very little access to the gospel and the word. Less than 10 percent of mission efforts are focused on this region that so desperately needs it. It is home to 4.84 billion people. It’s the birthplace of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, and Christianity. 8 out of 10 of the world’s poorest of the poor live here.
Why the 10/40?
As a campus, we focus on a region called the 10/40 window. The 10/40 window is a rectangular geographic area stretching from North Africa through the Middle East to Asia, covering over 60 countries. Its name comes from its position between 10 and 40 degrees north latitude. Two-thirds of the world’s population live within this window. Three out of every five people in the 10/40 Window have little to no access to the gospel. The concept behind the 10/40 Window highlights these three elements: an area of the world with great poverty and low quality of life, combined with lack of access to Christian resources and unreached non-Christians. Our hope is that as we send teams to this region our students will fall in love with the nations, and will want to move overseas full-time.
