Each DTS comes together for the official lecture times to hear a range of topics from speakers from all around the world. During other times we will explore techniques to use media to tell God’s story. We will go over photography, video and editing, with an emphasis on videography. We will teach techniques and tips to create quality media. Each student will work in teams and individually to create multiple video and photography projects to develop their skills and learn how to serve God using media. It’s our heart to influence the world of media with God’s glory. Everyone has a story to tell. Learn how to do it well and with a Kingdom focus.
Finally, each DTS comes together and prayerfully splits up into teams to be then sent to the nations. Students spend the remaining months overseas reflecting Jesus’ call to ‘GO’. In teams across the 10/40 window students are given the opportunity to explore and apply all they learned in the lecture phase. It’s a great opportunity to begin implementing and further exploring the gifts God has given you.
No! But it’s great and helpful if you do. We have a couple in our communications team but not enough for each person. Your own camera will allow you to explore and create more freely.
Basic knowledge is good to start with. We will teach you some fundamental principles and techniques if your experience level isn't much and will help enrich any skills you currently possess.
Randi graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication in 2009. If you had asked her back then what her dream job was, she would have told you to have her own show on the travel channel. That way she could travel the world and use her love for media production. God offered to do one better, and allow her to glorify Him and make Him known in all the world. Eric and Randi met in college and have been with YWAM since 2011. They are from Georgia and proud of it. They have three amazing kids and love being a family in missions.
