DTS WEEK 7: Life of Jesus

This week, we had our very own Nick Kolenda speaking to our Fall DTS students on the life of Jesus. It is a radical and mind-bending concept that Jesus was fully God and fully man. He humbled himself entirely to, in teaching those around him and us, have a relatability and understanding that we can see in the physical. The rarity and beauty of Christianity is directly tied to the humility of our Savior, King, and Friend. He did what no god would ever be thought of doing. In Jesus being human and dwelling among us, it shows that he wanted us to see he understands our position first-hand and not just from his all-knowing character. Jesus embracing full humanity bridges the gap between sacred and secular. He is our perfect example of what it is to live as dwelling places for the Holy Spirit.

If we resign ourselves to only acknowledging the divinity of Christ, we miss a whole other side of the picture. A whole other side of how he knows and understands us. There is such a deep tenderness in the truth that Jesus’ knowing of us doesn’t just exist in his all-knowing mind, but also it’s in the flesh and bones he wore. He is so much closer than we could ever dream, and his humanity is a place we can relate to and feel known in.

Here are some of our favorite quotes from Nick’s week!
”Over Spiritualization happens when you believe in the divinity of Jesus but not the humanity of Jesus.” // “God is not going to waiver, and it is not our job to test him, just to simply believe.” // “It would be a very shallow faith if our knowledge of him grows but our actions stay the same.”
