The Miracle of the Cross
it’s always been
more than wood
and nails
but how would they ever know
what that oak
and metal speaks
it’s always been
more than a Jewish man
with unexplainable love
but how would they ever know
the depth
of His selfless heart
and desires
it’s always been
more than
living as condemned sinners
but how would they ever know
there is a gift of adoption
there at their feet
each stripe
across the back
of the Son of God
tells a story
of our past
He came to redeem
a promise of restoration
and an invitation
to love and live
with great awe
of the One who came
to set them free
but how would they know
how could they know
if nobody goes to tell them
